Barron Hockey Academy is considered a top notch training facility has just got even better! Starting March 22, 2011, we will be giving parents and players a chance to participate in a hockey specific training sessions that include on-ice training, off-ice training circuits which includes hockey specific equipment and our skating treadmill.
The Tuesday night clinic will involve curriculum planned around the requirements of the ADM. The clinic will include 20 to 30 minutes putting players into situations that will challenge their individual skill set. This includes many details in stick handling, shooting, and passing both as a forward and defenseman. During the last 30 minutes players will be broken into groups that will challenge them in a game like setting.
Throughout the 10 week program players will be taught situations that translate into game like play such as:
- puck protection along the boards
- contain and win one-on-one battles
- hit with the purpose to win the puck
- pressure the net
- attack the blue
- adjust to a broken play or turn over
- attack and pressure a defenseman and so many other areas.
Defensemen will learn:
- how to shoot from the blue line
- how to step to the middle
- how to stagger and learn to protect the strong side post
- how to angle and box out
- how to transition and take away the middle
- develop foot speed, stick position on a one one-on-one
- active stick, and many other facets of the game.
All Head instructors during the Tuesday night clinics are full-time hockey coaches and developers. They understand the game, deal with players at every level and know how to keep clinics fun, challenging and keep players moving.
Supporting instructors have been through the Barron Hockey Program and are currently playing during the hockey season at NCAA, Jr. ‘A’ and Prep School levels. They are becoming great educators of the game to Barron Hockey students as well as teaching them how their own success has been built around attitude, work ethic, discipline and sacrifice.
